Benedikt Rottstegge

Head of Systems and Semicolons

Stella Friedenberger

Head of Constructs and Contemplation

We are a very small and versatile studio, combining two very different and unique skill sets and functioning like a MAN-MACHINE (obvious homage to Kraftwerk). Stella's background is in graphic and multimedia design. Her focus mainly is on concept development, UI/UX design and forms of digital augmentation. Whereas Bene's graphic design and coding background enables him to bring absolutely every idea into being. He fell into his first coding rabbit hole over 10 years ago and never came out of it ever since.

Both of us strongly believe that designing in knowledge of development (and the other way around) is key! We combine an artistic approach to design and use code as a tool to develop its digital infrastructures.

Practice

With 5+ years experience in interface design and development and a strong background in graphic design and fine arts, we create exciting, unusual, strong and informative digital experiences.

Our interdisciplinary, fluid practice allows us to lead projects seamlessly all the way from initial concept, through design and development to launch.

KICK-OFF

Before we get started we have to understand the needs, goals and vision of your organization. We want us to get to know each other and set expectations beforehand. In this phase we will ask a lot of questions, create a joint schedule and capture all specifications in both a proposal and an information architecture.

COLLABORATION

We never just develop but start such projects by joining the design team as soon as they contemplate interactions. This means we insist to at least oversee the part of the design that is inseperable linked to the development or even better: we collaborate with the design team on the UI/UX. Thereby we can ensure us—and your team—to only take responsibility for implementations that will actually work out as planned. Untimately this allows us to perform the smoothest possible handover of your project from design to development. Furthermore we create a joint schedule and capture all specifications in a proposal.

DESIGN

We start with a content strategy for your project and set all hierarchies, page types, and modules. Then we design the visual appearance including fonts to use, colors and all other key visuals that lead to the design of your project. Finally, we create a design that highlights the vision and content of your organization. It shows all visible elements, such as the user interface, typography, icons, grids, image styles and animations.

DEVELOPMENT

In this phase, we build your project according to the previously created designs, interactions and technical frameworks. We always start with the setup of your new, easy-to-use content management system that will allow you to manage all content intuitively later on. All of the front-end interface and interactions emerge out of it.

DESIGN + DEVELOPMENT

Combining design and development means that we design with a deep understanding of how the UI/UX will ultimately be realized. This allows us to craft highly unique digital experiences without compromising on functionality.

HANDOVER

After the revisions are made, we hand over a detailed documentation of the design to your team. Our part of the work is not complete until all remaining details are clarified. If requested and previously agreed upon, we will also supervise and oversee the implementation.

LAUNCH

Finally your team receives a video tutorial so every member can get familiar with the content management system asynchronously. While your team is adding content, we'll fix any bugs that might occur. This parallel work is the final step of perfecting your new website and getting it ready for the public. As a final step we transfer your website to your production environment.
